Seung-ri Academy is a family taekwondo and martial arts school in White Rock, BC, teaching kids from age 4, teens, and adults six days a week (Monday to Saturday). Led by Chief Instructor Master Lorne Davidson, the academy has served White Rock and South Surrey families for over 20 years from its studio in uptown White Rock, inside the Whale Wall building at 1493 Johnston Road. New students can start with a free private lesson.

The academy’s motto is “Creating Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.” Classes teach real taekwondo skills — stances, kicks, blocks, forms (poomsae) and controlled sparring — alongside focus, self-control, respect, goal setting and practical self-defence. Every student moves through a clear belt-rank system at their own pace.

Kids and Teen Programs by Age

Tigers — Ages 4 to 6

A high-energy first martial arts class for preschoolers and kindergarteners. Short, focused bursts of training mixed with games teach young children to listen the first time, follow multi-step directions, work respectfully with a partner, and understand personal space and stranger awareness. Classes run 25–40 minutes.

Karate For Kids (K4K) — Ages 7 to 12

The academy’s flagship program for school-age children. Kids learn real taekwondo, self-defence fundamentals and bully-prevention strategies, and practise leadership by helping younger students. Optional tournament preparation is available. Classes are 40 minutes, with several time slots each day.

Teens — Ages 13 to 17

More challenging training for teenagers: modern self-defence for real-world situations, strength, speed and agility conditioning, and controlled sparring with proper technique. Teens build confidence in social settings, learn to lead by example, and progress into the adult program.

Thursday: 8:30–9:15 pm
Saturday: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Adult classes (18 to 65+) also run at the academy, so parents can train too.
