Carillon Music Academy is a music school at 100–6846 King George Blvd in Surrey, BC, offering piano, guitar and voice lessons to children from age 4, plus teens, adults and seniors. Established in 1970, it was the first music school in the Lower Mainland to specialize in teaching young children, and it has run continuously for more than 50 years.

Group Piano Classes for Ages 4–10

The Carillon Music Program is a one-hour weekly group class that teaches children to play piano alongside singing, rhythm ensembles, learning games and classroom activities. Classes are grouped by age and experience:

Red Music — ages 4–5, beginner
Orange Music — ages 5–6, some prior experience
Yellow Music — ages 6–7, beginner
Green Music — ages 6–8, some prior experience
Blue Music — ages 8–10, beginner

A parent attends class with the child in every level except Blue Music. The curriculum covers rhythm, ear training, note reading, music theory and piano performance.

Private Lessons in Piano, Guitar & Voice

Private lessons are available in piano (ages 6+), guitar (ages 8+) and voice (ages 8+), in 30, 45 or 60-minute sessions, for beginner through advanced students. Teachers cover classical, jazz and popular repertoire and prepare students for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations. The program runs 39 lessons from September to June, billed in 10 equal monthly payments, with two weeks off at Christmas and one week at spring break. Students can start at any point in the year at a prorated rate.

Advanced & Specialty Programs

Piano Performance Program — two one-year levels for students finishing Green or Blue Music; Piano Performance 1 is equivalent to RCM Grade 1.
Piano Styles Program — levels 3 to 8, pairing bi-weekly group classes with bi-weekly private lessons, covering classical, pop, blues and jazz repertoire plus theory, improvisation, composition and arranging.
Theory classes — group classes that change each year to support RCM exam preparation.
Choir and senior classes — open to all ages.
